Bring Back The Blogging!

Does anyone else feel like more and more bloggers are blogging less often the past few months? Surely I can't be the only one who has noticed this...

Today I vote for everyone to bring back the blogging.

Sure, I admit I have been blogging less the past couple months, but I do show up when I have something of value to say or something great to share with you all, and I definitely plan to up my game in the next month or so. Plus, I think all of us go through "blogging seasons" and have mini breaks from time to time. It's normal, I get it. I give a lot of credit to those who blog consistently year round. Personally, I have full intentions on staying and writing in this little space of mine because I still absolutely love it (which is pretty important) and enjoy connecting with everyone so much. Sorry to disappoint, but you can't get rid of this blogger!

I absolutely love reading others blog posts and connecting with you all outside of say, Instagram. I adore Instagram just like the next girl, but to me a good blog post can't be replaced with a picture. I still want to hear/see more! I read blogs everyday...it's so neat to be able to relate with so many people, see so many different cities, and hear about new products I never even knew existed. I know there have to be others out there that enjoy this as well? I hope?

Maybe it could be a group effort and if we all start trying a little harder then we will all start posting/reading each others posts more often and be inspired together. Or maybe I'm crazy and you can just skip on by this post like you never read it at all...

Anyone agree with me here? Anyone at all?

To wrap this random as can be post up, since I value my readers (you!) very very very much so, I'd love to know what type of posts you like to see here on KC&CO. Recipes//projects//lifestyle//health & fitness? On that same note, what are some of your favorite blogs out there so I can follow along too?!

Please let me know in the comments (thank you in advance to those that do-I've been replying via email but for those who don't have an email set up I will respond directly on my post!) and most importantly, thank you for reading and sticking by me all these years!

  1. Your recipes are definitely good - probably my favorite posts - except of course, your Texas trips to see BeautifulMess. Those are always funny!

  2. I have definitely been blogging/reading less lately, but I agree with you! I love the blogging community and would hate to see it get Instagrammed away!

  3. AGREED. I noticed that there's been a slack in people blogging lately too - including myself. But I have been putting forward much more effort than I typically do. I want to keep this space on the web an exciting thing that I ENJOY doing :) So glad for this post today! Hopefully your message will inspire others :)

  4. Agreed! I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone and do fashion-type posts. Like today, I got all day dreamy and did a inspiration board for a baby boy nursery. I like to dream up ideas like that and I hope it's something my readers like!

  5. Things do seem a little quiet.... the summer time always seems to make the days busier, leaving us less time to sit down and write. Or maybe that's just me! ;) Keep on blogging, I love all of it. I'll reading/enjoying all of the posts!

  6. This. Yes! I've so totally noticed that soooo many blogger have stopped blogging and are now solely on instagram. Sure, page views and comments might be down, but is that a reason to blog in the first place. My blog is an online journal, documenting my life. I've never accepted sponsors and I don't do it to make money. I literally do it for me and my family. Instagram is awesome and all, but bring blogging baaaaack. Haha!! I'm totally with you on this :)

  7. I think big bloggers just get burnt out in trying to keep up with the popularity/sponsored posts/etc and that's why so many stop blogging. There are plenty of us small/medium blogs that still post regularly though :)

I love your recipes posts, I'm pretty sure I've made about 95% of the ones you've posted! I'd love to hear more health/fitness stuff too!

  8. I totally agree and it makes me sad! I feel like people are posting less, reading less, commenting less and I miss the community feel!! I'm in! :)

  9. I 100% admit that I've been slacking but I have been trying to do better about it and currently have quite a few drafts sitting around waiting to be polished and posted! I think the summer is hard because, I know for me, I end up spending more time outside and once I'm in it gets late and I don't blog- terrible excuse but it happens! I am working on it!

I love your recipe and fitness posts!

  11. I agree - there's so many people blogging less, but like Erin said, there's tons of us small/medium bloggers that are posting consistently. I love your recipe and fitness posts - I'm working on my fitness and they're inspiring!

  12. i agree with you and have noticed a lull in the posting lately - maybe everyone is just so excited for the nice weather that finally is here (at least in NJ!!) personally i love your style so i enjoy the outfit posts and all around lifestyle posts!

  13. I just started blogging recently because it is something I have wanted to do for years now. I have followed both you & Stephanie at Beautiful Mess for a long while now & love reading your posts! Especially Saw It. Pinned It. Did It. I have been trying to blog at least 2 times a week & I am doing it all for me! Check it out sometime! www.thehouseicallhome.com.

    1. SPD was wonderful and I'm not sure if we will start it up again (never say never!) but I definitely want to continue doing Pinterest inspired projects!! I'm always up for those! ;) I will definitely visit your blog, thanks Michelle!

  14. I totally agree! I feel like some bloggers are burnt out on blogging. Maybe that means that new ones will come to the surface!

  15. You do a great job with consistent blogging, in my opinion! You are definitely one of my favorites :) I would love to see more lifestyle posts and gift guides. Thanks, lady!

    1. thank you so much, Chelsi! I really do try to! I know some people love the gift guides, and others HATE them so it's all about finding the perfect balance. xo!

  16. I've been following a ton of blogs on Bloglovin for a year or two, and started my own blog this week actually. My strategy was to do some link ups to promote my blog, but the past few weeks there have been less and less of those. The link ups I did do were awesome! But when I first started following blogs, it seems there were a lot more to choose from (and I was looking forward to your Pinterest project link ups :) Again, soon?). I agree with Erin, more small bloggers are doing a better job at blogging consistently than some of the big names these days.

  17. I've definitely noticed this trend. And I enjoy writing as much as I enjoy reading but I do go through my peaks and troughs too. Lets bring it back, I'd sign a petition if there was such a thing :)

  18. I actually have thought this as well and of course I've stopped entirely but thought about it.. I will actually start posting because I love going back and reading my old posts and then it just stops.. Which I had a fun little weekend in Napa thanks to some of your old post recommendations!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amen my friend! Blogging can get overwhelming at times, but I know if I stopped I would miss it SO much! And I love all of your posts, so keep it up!

  20. AGREED!!! I had my blogging "seasonal slump" of only a few posts here and there the past couple of months, that is mainly part that I feel like quality is better than quantity and I didn't want to bore people with just randomness just to count a blog post, but I told myself it's time to get back in action with this whole content thing! ;)

  21. I love your life/projects/recipes. I so miss SPD but I know that was probably lots of trouble! Even if it was an occasional thing ;)

  22. Yes yes yes to this post!! I love reading blogs and getting to know other bloggers! I admit, I have been bad about posting everyday (M-F), but my goal is to get better. Also, blogging for yourself is so key! I hate reading blogs that are so obvious about selling a product or company/brand. If you truely love the product brand and it fits with your overall personality and style, then great, if not it just feels weird and displaced. I love reading your blog!!

  23. I know exactly what you mean friend but trust me, not a day goes by that I'm not checking in on you and my other favourite ladies and their online spaces. Other social media is fun and great to follow too but nothing beats good old blogging. I am also here to stay and hope that we both stay blogging - especially until you visit Africa one day :) x

  24. YES to this post! I love blogging, but I've had my own seasons of quieter times - usually related to less quiet times in my life outside of the blog (ie: law school exams, studying for the bar exam, moving, etc.) Every time I come back to the blog though because I've missed it. I think when the blogging becomes about other things (readers, new likes, etc.) is when it becomes a chore and much more easy to put aside for a day. That's why I love your graphic at the top of this post! Thanks for the inspiration, and I'm so glad to have found your blog! xo

  25. I know exactly what you mean.
I've seen way more sponsored posts on my feed and way less personal/everyday life posts.
It makes my heart sad! -- especially when bloggers I love start backing away from their blogs.
I've done it myself for my own blog, but as you said, it's a season-i'm-in thing.
Motherhood has a way of sopping up all of my leftover time and leaving me wanting to do nothing else but snuggle under the bedcovers and sleep for ages.
    Great post!

  26. I feel the same way!! I fell out of love with blogging because I fell into the trap of "sponsors, givaways, and trying to make money". Now I'm back and starting over, making my blog a BLOG and nothing more.

  27. I definitely feel that there is a lack of connection in the blogging world! It's a little sad because those friendships and connections that I saw were what got me into blogging in the first place! And now they're gone.. There are lots of small and medium size bloggers who would love some attention and connections!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I agree with this 110%! I used to get so excited to check my reader daily to see what everyone had posted but lately it just seems like a lot of mailed-in posts, something sponsored, or nothing at all. I do have to say that I feel like your blog has always been consistent. I think you do a great combo of recapping weekends or trips (which are my favorite type of post to read...if only we could all go on vacation for a living and write recaps!) or letting us know about a great new recipe or something cute you bought online. I really love finding new blogs to read through some of my current favorites, so a suggestion from me would be doing an updated roundup of your must-reads! You introduced me to The Northeast Girl and that blog has become one of my favorites (even though it's not been great for my wallet ;)

    ReplyDelete
  29. I completely agree with you. I feel like I check my feed everyday and while there used to be 50+ posts to read now I'm lucky if there are 10. I definitely haven't been blogging near as much as I used to, and I feel like it's because sometimes I get so caught up in the fact that my followers haven't increased or that I'm the only one who doesn't have a custom blog layout....i don't know. I definitely am working on getting back to blogging for ME and not worrying about the "success" of it all.

  30. I've been feeling the same way - I haven't had as much time to post over the past few months, but I do miss it! I have lots I want to post about in June though, and I'm feeling really inspired this month! Yay for blogging :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Loved this, Katie! One of the reasons I got away from blogging was because everything was sponsored. Totally understand a few a month, but it seemed like every blog was sponsored every dang day! I appreciate when blogs sponsor stuff, but I follow them for THEM. And I'm voting for your recipes ;) I try to do meatless meals twice a week and yours always make it to that table :)

  32. How did you know that I needed this?? HAHA I have been a horrible blogger lately, and I'm trying to get better. If you do it, I'll do it!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I have fallen off the blogger train mostly because I read others (yours included!) and I feel like I'm just rambling/venting. It's tough but I enjoy writing and it's a good outlet for thoughts and memories! I enjoy your posts no matter what the subject is. I don't remember how I came across your instagram/blog but I felt like we had so much in common. When you recently mentioned that Billy sometimes refs hockey games, I had to laugh because I recently dated a hockey referee! I really like the "five on Friday" or "Friday favorites" posts because they don't have a theme and I tend to be all over the board at times... seriously, blame it on my add. :)

  34. I love this and couldn’t agree more. It’s harder to blog in the summer when the weather is beautiful and all I want to do is be outside. I focus on quality over quantity and days that I don’t have things to say, I simply don’t post. I’d love to see more of your healthy recipes!

    ReplyDelete
  35. It's so funny because I was thinking about this not too long ago actually. I've only been blogging myself since August but I can already feel a big dip around blogging lately. And I agree with others who commented above, Katie you've probably been one of the most consistent I follow (and I'm sure you already know my love for you too!!) :)

  36. I definitely go through "seasons" of blogging. Sometimes life just gets so busy that it has to be put off for a week or two. I think that's ok though & completely understandable when any one does this. After a short break I'm finally back to it myself & I love it! I enjoy pretty much everything that you post but, love seeing/reading about others lives & house type projects & decor!

  37. I just felt like I had nothing new to say....the burnt out phase what else can I talk about without boring readers ya know? I don't know how you keep coming up with all your posts but you do! Kudos to you for that! I have to agree with pretty much every comment on here...your blog is one I consistently check even though I have been on blogging hiatus for a while now. Keep it up girl! :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. This post was just the kick in the butt I needed! I needed a break and took one and that break turned into several months. I read everyone's post quietly and while I read along and liked pictures on instagram, I slowly started to miss that true interaction you get from blogging. Then you posted this and it was just the motivation I needed to end the blogging hiatus! Thanks Katie!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Of course I agree! I feel like I've made such great connections with bloggers and when I stopped blogging for awhile, I still keep up with some on other social media platforms, but there's always something nice about blogging and having THAT connection, too. I'm trying to bring mine back to life and hope others will too!

  40. I agree it seems that people are blogging way less, me included :( My excuse right now is becasue of these freaking summer classes but hopefully things will go back to semi normal in July. And ya know I will have a life to actually blog about

  41. HI Katie!
I can totally relate and being guilty of not blogging as often! I love the quote you have added, it definitely makes a big statement! I look forward to reading more of your adventures :)

    Have a great weekend
