You guys know by now that I'm really looking forward to spring. I'm not above counting down the days! Spring clothes are probably my favorite (which is another reason why my no buy Feb. is a good idea) and once they start putting them in stores, I'm in full want-to-buy-everything mode. Anyone else?!
If you buy one new piece for your spring/summer wardrobe this year, buy a good quality chambray shirt. You may have already jumped on this trend last year, but if not, now is the time! The chambray shirt is so versatile (the one featured above is a perfect fit and color and is from Madewell) which is why I love it so much. As you can see, I showed some examples for how you can create 3 different looks with it.
The first outfit is pairing it with a maxi-this probably my favorite look because it's unexpected and fun for the spring and summer. The second look would be to wear some layers with the chambray top, and then pair with skinny jeans and a fun heel (love those shoes!). The third look is obviously with shorts...I love how it's styled up in the front with lace shorts in that photo, but you could do regular colored shorts as well to add a pop of color.
These 3 looks are so easy to put together, but you will stand out and look fashionable wearing them. My kinda outfit!
While we're on the topic, I've mentioned them before but I love to use Tide Pods detergent to help brighten up my spring clothes even more. Pop in a whole new kind of clean with Tide Pods. If you don't remember me mentioning them before, they are the only powerful 3-chamber unit dose on the market right now. Tide Pods are effective for cleaning, brightening, and fighting stains and couldn't be easier to use! You just pop one in the washer and don't have to worry about measuring anything.
Today, you have the chance to win a $100 Visa Gift Card.
Tell me about something in your wardrobe that's versatile and provides 3-in-1 style.

Before I go, last night I decided to go to my favorite spin class even though I'm still not feeling the greatest. I was so surprised because I had this feeling that I would over do it and end up feeling terrible today, but I'm actually feeling better! I'm so glad I went (but who doesn't normally feel good after the gym?!) Thank you to those who sent me well wishes yesterday!
I also got some questions on my workout schedule recently, so I thought I would share it here. I'm not an expert, but this is just what works for me. I've said it before and I'll say it again..if you want to burn a lot of calories and get your legs in shape-go to spin 2x per week! Your body will love you.
Monday-Circuit workout/abs (pushups, lunges, sit ups, planks, side raises, etc) then 1 hour spin class.
Tuesday-Arms (I use 12 lb weights) and running (anywhere from 3-4 miles)
Weds-rest day
Thursday-Longer run (5-7 miles), arms.
Friday-Circuit workouts/abs, legs, sometimes I do the stair-master for 25 minutes.
Sat-Spin class
Sunday-rest day
*Any other questions, feel free to email me or leave it in the comments below! Don't forget to answer the question above to be entered to win. Thank you to those new readers who have introduced yourself to me!
I always wear my Nine West nude peep toe pumps! They work for day events like bridal showers, look fantastic with a LBD at night & they are so comfy, I can even wear them to work!
ReplyDeleteKHORNIACEK@GMAIL.COM
My go-to staple that I transitions so well from outfit to outfit is my favorite navy and white striped t-shirt. I wear it underneath cardigans and with skinnies for a low-key day, dress it up with a skirt and scarf for dinner and pair it with a military jacket and belt for a day of shopping or errands.
ReplyDeleteJeans are my 3-in-1 go to item. Dress them up with a nice top and shoes; dress them down with a t-shirt and chucks.
ReplyDeleteI have a Tahari purple sleeveless ruffled blouse that is perfect for work tucked into a skirt, for happy hour, I untuck it, throw on some dark skinny jeans and heels and I'm ready to go.
ReplyDeleteI'll go ahead and take credit for you feeling better after your spin class. You definitely sweated out your toxins, sister! You're welcome.

I love wearing my Steve Madden Intyce boots. They work great with jeans, leggings, or a dress. you can dress up or dress down and works great for a last minute work option!

My plaid flannel button has turned out to be so versatile! I tie it up over my black maxi dress, wear it tucked into my black pencil skirt with cute jewelry or over a tee with my skinnies!
ReplyDeleteMy cowboy boots are the most versatile item in my closet. I pair them with jeans for an outdoorsy day, sundresses in the Spring/Summer, and over leggings (with dresses) in the winter.
ReplyDeleteMy go to is also chambray and a good pair of jean shorts...not together of course but those are 2 staples that must be with me all spring!
ReplyDeletei LOVE your workout routine! some weeks I get so into working out (and others not so much LOL) and I honestly dont give myself a rest day...which I know is awful...so i need to start doing that better! an look at you go 5-7 miles! OW OW!! theres a really cool 5k thats traveling the US you should look it up if you ever are interested in doing a race! its called the 5k FOAM FEST!!! basically a big sloppy mess of running in foam and bubbles haha ive been toying with the idea but am SCARED...mainly because there is 1 spot where you get slightly shocked/electrocuted haha!
ReplyDeletealso i have tried on chambry shirts and i feel like i just CANT pull them off as well as you and other girls! i guess I need to just bite the bullet and try it more and with differerent clothing options hahah Could have been because the day I tried it on it was after the gym and I was wearing my running sneaks and heinous man shorts.
xoxoxo
My black leggings from Forever 21 and my go to item. I can dress them up under a dress, wear them with a large sweatshirt for lounging, or layer them under snowpants when I have to go out and shovel. Love Love Love them!
ReplyDeleteHI! You live in Columbus?? how exciting!!! I live in Pickerington and I am from Oklahoma City! I would love to get together some time for coffee or what not!
ReplyDeleteHas your work out plan helped you lose any weight? Just wondering because Im trying to lose some myself!

I second the comments about nude pumps and a navy and white striped shirt. I accidentally bought several navy and white striped shirts, all a little bit different, because I am so drawn to them. I love wearing them with a fun scarf or with capris in the spring and summer!

I get a ton of wear out of my J.Crew Pixie pants. I've worn them dressed up to work, with a neon top and denim jacket on the weekends & with a chunky sweater for cozy days. They're a bit of a splurge, but I love them. So worth it!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you on chambray shirts too. I think I have a total of 3 of them now. ;)

I always feel like I am out of style. But seeing this post made me super happy.
ReplyDeleteMy most recent purchases have been a red maxi skirt, white skinnies and black lace shorts! Woo!! :)
The little black dress in my closet is worn year round :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband's castoff striped blue shirt. Love that thing, even if it doesn't even come CLOSE to fitting me well. I layer it under sweaters, tie it off over a maxi, use it as a beach cover-up... The possibilities are endless! Honestly, it's my chambray :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not exactly the most fashionable person in the world, but I've found that a great fitting quality pair of jeans goes with almost anything!
ReplyDeleteFLIP FLOPS! A nice pair is great in the summertime for any occasion...I can wear them out and about, to work, to church...oh how I wish it were summer now :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the chambray shirt, I wear mine so much that I purchased 3 different ones (dark colored, light colored and polka dot) I wear them alone with colored jeans, layered under a sweater or other button down, under a blazer or with a vest. Everytime that I can't think of a shirt to wear with something, I reach for one of my chambray shirts - my family, friends and co-workers are probably tired of seeing them.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that the most versatile thing I have in my closet is my black jeggings. You can wear them with a top, a tunic, or even a dress and I can wear them to work. Plus they are so comfy .. win win! :)
ReplyDeleteMy 3 in 1 favorite is a pair of black leather shorts. I love to dress them up with heels and printed tank for a night out. Throw them on with a dress shirt, wedges and my ray bans for a bit more casual look. And really dress them down with t shirt and studded gladiators.

My most versatile piece of clothing is a pair of black skinny pants from Target! I can wear them dressed up for work or a night out, dressed down with boots in the winter, or rolled up with cute sandals in summer!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better! :)
ReplyDeleteMy most versatile article of clothing is probably my scarves...(does this count?) I throw one one to bright-up, add sparkle or just to make me feel good. I am a scarfaholic!! :)
My most versatile pieces would be some of my summer skirts
ReplyDeleteMy staple 3-in-1 piece is definitely my favorite short-sleeved black tee! Under a blazer for work, with a colorful scarf for on the weekends, or wear it with lace shorts for a cute date night!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend jeans!
ReplyDeleteI actually wear my chambray shirt with everything - all the time. Once a week. At least.
ReplyDeleteSomething that is very versatile in my closet is my black skinny jeans. Rockstar jeans from Old Navy at that! They are absolutely comfortable and can be dressed up and dressed down!
ReplyDeleteThe most versatile I have is a dark blue tunic. I can wear with everyday jeans or over many colors of leggings. I can even get by with wearing as a short dress.

ReplyDeleteI didn't get a chambray shirt from last year and thought the train had passed me by! Love the look though, I'll be needing one. Am I allowed to do accessories? My favorite versatile thing are leopard heels! It's a fun design, but it's all neutral colors so you can add a little pop of print to just about any outfit.
ReplyDeleteI have a sweater that is the most versatile. I can wear to wear, causal, etc

I have a black short dress that I can wear with tights and high boots along with some pretty jewelry for a dressy look. And then I can also where pants with it and tennis shoes for a laid-back look. There's no item of clothing in my wardrobe that's more versatile than my knit gray a-line dress! It's comfy enough to wear on weekends chillin' at Starbucks or walking the dogs, great as a swimsuit cover-up, yet can be dressed-up with a pair of heels and a scarf for an evening out. I LOVE that dress...
ReplyDeleteLove the 3 way chambray look! My staple is a sleeveless cotton blackdress...this can be worn SO many ways!

Love a cute chambray top! These are great different outfit ideas for it! The maxi combo is just adorable for spring.
ReplyDeleteI am also in love with the chambray 3-in-one look. I definitely need to try those Tide Pods sounds like they work miracles. I would pick my black above the knee dress; it can be be dressed-up, dressed down, or somewhere in the middle. It definitely is a versatile piece, a 3 in 1 style.

For me it’s a classic button down white shirt, it goes with skirts, suits and instantly classes up my favorite jeans, it can be worn alone or layered under a cardi or jacket, that’s definitely 3-in-1 action right there! Second place would be Black Skinny Jeans as I can wear those with longer jackets for casual Friday at the office and then still rock them on the weekends too!
ReplyDeleteTracy @ Ascending Butterfly
My favorite versatile piece are my black skinny jeans! I wear them all.of.the.time for work or to go out with friends, and they are so comfy so even around the house sometimes. I haven't tried the chambray shirt trend yet because I have a hard time finding a button down that fits well on me, but may have to try that out this spring. Thanks for the styling tips :)

ReplyDeleteyoga pants and several tees
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love solid-color tanks under everything from sweaters to sweatshirts! And of course, they're perfect with my yoga pants.
ReplyDeleteI have a pair if skinny pants that are a cargo material kinda feel....the cool thing about them is they have drawstrings going down the outsides of the legs 3/4 of the way down. I like to wear them like a traditional skinny pant tucked into my Frye motorcycle boots, for a dressier look I pair them with high heels and for a mor Spring/summer look I pull up the drawstrings so that they become a short Capri paired with heels or flats when I'm feeling casual! By far one of my most versatile pairs of pants, I just love them!
ReplyDeleteLightweight scarves are awesome! They can be worn around your neck, in your hair or as a belt!
ReplyDeleteTime to pull my chambray shirt out and dust it off!
ReplyDeleteMy cardigan sweaters are the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe, I can wear them alone , as a light coat, with pencil skirts, jeans, pants or dresses all year round. Perfect to dress up and down for all occasions.
ReplyDeletetcarolinep at gmail dot com
A good pair of jeans is my most important versatile item. I have one pair that is not skinny, but the legs are skinny enough to put into boots, looks great with a pair of heels, and you can always dress down a pair of jeans with some cute flats. Whenever I find an amazing pair, I'll make sure to stock up!!
ReplyDeleteMy staple is also a chambray shirt. It's dark wash and has cute little buttons on the pockets on the chest. I love it with dark jeans and a statement necklace, under a winter sweater, or under a faux fur vest. It's also cute in the spring with colorful shorts.
ReplyDeleteMy black leggings
ReplyDelete- under a skirt with boots for night out
- with a tunic for daytime
- with a t-shirt for the gym
My 3-in-1 is definitely my black jeggings. I can wear them to work with a cute jacket and flats - go to happy hour with some heels - and on to a night out with my girls by losing the jacket and keeping the heels. :)
