{I posted at a different time yesterday-so if you missed the chance to win $1,500: enter here!}
We've made it to Friday!
Too bad we all can't celebrate together....wouldn't that be so fun?
How was your special love day yesterday? I'll get into ours in a minute.
Real quick I want to say hello to all of you who are new around here!
Like I said yesterday, I recently posted many of my favorite posts on my About Me page, so if you want to get to know the girl behind this blog a little better, that would be a good place to start.
{except I was really tan here...sigh...}

Who knows, maybe you don't want to know anything about me.
I'm hoping that's not the case though. ;)
I want to address something that brought me a lot of happiness this week...
There are not many things better than seeing you guys make projects that Billy and I have made (in particular-I've seen many of you do the $20 wood shelves), healthy recipes that I've tried, etc.
I was sitting on the couch with Billy the other night actually showing him your tweets, pictures, and so on of the things you were inspired to make from seeing on my blog. It was like holy canoli-we loved it so much! and it inspires us to do more projects! So, thank you for that.
Moving on...
I've always told Billy that the things I remember/love most about Valentine's day are the things that are the most thoughtful. Even just spending time together in our own home is perfectly fine with me!
Wine? Check. Movie? Check. Sweatpants? Definitely not mad about that one, so consider it yup-checked.
....Getting breakfast out together before work so I don't have to make it.
Billy knows it's my favorite meal. In fact, the entire place was empty when we went. It was lovely.
....Handmade cards. You just cannot put a price on homemade cards.
They provide me with many laughs + are probably one of my favorite things ever.
....Our plan for the evening was to have our favorite meal at home, have a little wine tasting (Billy surprised me with three bottles!), and go to a cute dessert place (Pistacia Vera) down in German Village. When we got down there, we ended up getting dinner to go at a place close by that we've never tried. We love trying new places together, so this was fun for us.
....The MACAROONS themselves make me want to LIVE here! OK, and the truffles.
Anyway, Valentine's day is nice because it gives me that reminder to soak up my time with Billy and just how much I love him (even though I feel this way everyday). But just like other holidays, I wish my mom were still here. She was one of those that loved to celebrate any and every holiday and would go all out for it with the cutest little things. On the other hand, it's nice that I have a valentine up in heaven, too.
Tonight, I'm going to dinner with three of my best girlfriends and going to see this movie....

{right before the sweatpants made their appearance. thank you iphone for one of the blurriest pics I've ever seen.}

What are you doing this weekend?
Cheers to having {love}days everyday and possibly continuing it into the weekend?
xo
what a beautiful day!!!! Tonight I'm also having a much needed girls night! and tomorrow my sister is coming up from NYC to spend the night. I miss her like crazy so it will be nice to have her all to ourselves for a whole day! Then Sunday we are shopping for a new car for me!!!! I'm thrilled, jamming baby, me and all his gear into a Honda Accord has not been fun! Hope you guys have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha! Cheers to girl nights...they are good for the soul. New car? Awesome! Have a good weekend!
DeleteAww so sweet that you exchanged handmade cards! They really are the best. My husband and I did that on the morning of our wedding day instead of gifts and I'm so happy we did because it's one of my favorite wedding day memories. And I'm loving those macaroons, almost too pretty to eat!
ReplyDeleteSUCH a good idea. I love that!!
DeleteNow that's my kind of Valentines Day! As embarrassing as it is to say, I've never had macaroons. Looks like a perfect evening and with sweatpants and all?! Jealous! Of course you look as gorgeous as usual. Any favorites on the wines? Happy WEEKEND!
ReplyDeletelooks like you need to try them! ;) YES...our favorite is the Fancy Pants wine. It's delicious!
DeleteSounds like y'all had a great night together! My mom loved any reason to celebrate too... especially Valentine's! Hope y'all have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletehugs to you friend!
DeleteTisdale is one of my favorite wine to always keep on hand. It's so cheap but so good!
ReplyDeleteAlso- I made your crock pot cake last night and it was soooo good! Thanks for posting the recipe!
Sounds like the perfect day!! I have never had a macaroon -- shameful, I know. Especially since we have an awesome bakery right on main street here in Chapel Hill that I know sells them. Haha. My roommates and I went to see Safe Haven last night and it was SO GOOD! As usual with a NS movie...bring tissues ;)
ReplyDeleteBe sure to share how the movie is!

Breakfast is for sure my favorite meal too. I wish I could eat breakfast out every day. :) And believe it or not, I've never had a macaroon. I think I may be missing out. I need to find a place to eat one!

ReplyDeleteI want to know how that Fancy Pants wine is. I try wines based on their names!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
You have to tell me how Safe Haven is? I loved the book but I'm not sold on the movie :)
ReplyDeleteOur night was similar...low key and relaxed Valentines are the best! Those macaroons look amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI love wine too! Having your own little "tasting" with dinner (and homemade cards!) is such a cute idea! We've got four under four (triplets and a baby) so our "romantic" night out involved a family trip to Starbucks for hot chocolates:)
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable! I love your outfit. And what are you talking about.. you are still so tan!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great Valentine's Day for you and your hubby! To me, nights at home with my husband are better than any night out. Hope you enjoy Safe Haven! We have a monthly movie list and that one is our February movie... so the husband gets dragged to it with me! lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Can't wait to hear how that movie is! I read the book last month so I want to see the movie now!
ReplyDeleteI made homemade v-day cards this year (the one to my mom is in my post "Dear Valentine") & I too love good wine! You're a girl after my own heart! Found your blog on "KV's Confessions"
